Relationships Require Faith
Rev.William “Chip” Montier
Hebrews 11:1-3 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped
for and the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good
report. Through faith we
understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which
are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Relationships require work, time and communication. But, relationships also require
faith. To see the type of unity
and harmony that makes a relationship pleasant and enjoyable, one party or both
parties need to have a living and active belief that God can resolve their
conflicts and heal their hurts. If
flowers do not get the proper nutrients including water and sunshine they will
wither and die. This can happen to
relationships too. Without an investment of time, energy and prayer a
relationship can wither up and die out.
This verse in Hebrews reminds me that if there is a change that I want
to see in any of my relationships, I must have faith. Changes in our
relationships are brought about by faith.
Change can happen if I am willing to go to God in prayer and in faith
believing it will come to pass. In
the next verse it says that the things which are seen were not made of things
which do appear. So your faith
calls forth the positive change in your relationships.
Be certain that God did not create man to live alone or to
live in disconnected or frustrating relationships. Give the Lord an opportunity to speak to you concerning your
relationship troubles and receive wisdom and understanding from him. Trust and believe that He can and will
bring godly changes about in your relationships.
Dear Heavenly Father, I have tried to bring about changes in
my relationships and I have had no success. I surrender to your will for my relationships. Show me how
to walk in love and deal righteously in all my relationships. I ask for your
divine intervention. Help me to repair
what has been broken; heal the hurts I have received and the hurts I have
inflicted. Bring about your will
in my relationships. In Jesus
Name, Amen.
